Plan with AI — and always double-check the money
Running a small business means making a hundred small decisions: what to sell, what to charge, what to buy, what to keep track of. AI can help you think through all of these faster.
Used well, AI is like a business partner who is always available. It can help you brainstorm ideas, organize messy notes, and draft the first version of a plan in minutes instead of hours.
What AI is great at for your business
- Brainstorming — pricing ideas, product names, ways to reach customers.
- Organizing — turning a pile of notes into a clean list or table.
- Drafting — a first version of a budget, a message to a supplier, a simple plan.
But it can get the numbers wrong
Here is the most important rule of this whole course. Remember from earlier: AI can sound completely sure while being wrong. This is called a hallucination.
With money, this is dangerous. AI can:
- Add up a list and give you the wrong total.
- Suggest a price that does not actually cover your costs.
- Mix up quantities, or drop an item from a list without telling you.
AI is great at organizing your numbers. It is not reliable at calculating them.
The golden rule: verify every number
Treat any number the AI gives you as a draft, never a final answer.
- Re-add every total yourself — with a calculator or your phone. Do not trust the AI's math.
- Check every price against your real costs before you use it.
- If a number looks surprising, ask the AI to show its steps — then still check it yourself.
- Keep the currency and amounts that make sense for your market, not the examples the AI invents.
Think of AI as a helper that lays out your money clearly so you can do the thinking. The ideas can come from the AI. The final numbers are always yours to confirm.
