Numeric Dimensions
Precise control over object sizes
For precise work, you need exact control over dimensions.
Why Precision Matters
In real-world applications:
- 3D printing requires accurate dimensions
- Architecture needs exact measurements
- Product design demands precision
Eyeballing isn't enough!
Using the Properties Panel
The Properties panel shows exact values for:
- Position: X, Y, Z coordinates
- Rotation: Degrees on each axis
- Scale: Size multipliers
Entering Exact Values
- Select an object
- Click in a number field
- Type your value
- Press Enter to apply
Thinking in Units
Our editor uses generic units. Interpret them as:
- Meters for architectural scale
- Centimeters for furniture
- Millimeters for small objects/3D printing
Example: A Table
If 1 unit = 1 centimeter:
- Table top: 120 x 2 x 60 (W x H x D)
- Table legs: 5 x 70 x 5 each
Tips for Precision
- Plan dimensions first - sketch on paper
- Use consistent units - don't mix scales
- Round to nice numbers - easier to remember
- Check from orthographic view - top/front/side
Keyboard Tricks
- Tab to move between X, Y, Z fields
- Enter to confirm value
- Escape to cancel edit
