Build Your Desk

Mini Project: Build a Desk Scene

Put your skills together to create a complete desk scene!

Requirements

Create a scene with at least 4 objects representing a desk setup:

Suggested Objects

  • Desk surface (flat box)
  • Monitor (box on its side)
  • Keyboard (thin flat box)
  • Coffee mug (cylinder)
  • Desk lamp (cylinders + cone)
  • Mouse (small box or sphere)

Requirements Checklist

✓ At least 4 objects in the scene
✓ All objects above the grid (properly positioned)
✓ All objects have meaningful names (not "Box" or "Sphere")
✓ Objects are scaled appropriately relative to each other
✓ Apply different materials to at least 2 objects

Tips

  1. Start with the desk surface as your base
  2. Position items ON the desk (calculate Y position)
  3. Think about real-world proportions
  4. Use snapping for alignment
  5. Name objects as you create them

Example Desk

A simple desk could have:

  • Desk_Surface (flat box, brown color)

  • Monitor_Screen (thin box, black/gray)

  • Monitor_Stand (small cylinder)

  • Keyboard (flat box, gray)

  • Coffee_Mug (cylinder, ceramic color)

When You're Done

Your scene should look like a recognizable desk setup when viewed from any angle.

Bonus challenges:
  • Add a chair behind the desk
  • Create a desk lamp with multiple parts
  • Add a plant (sphere on cylinder pot)
